| Armenia - Havuts Tar |
Havuts Tar is a ruined monastery situated on a ridge of the Garni gorge. It
is accessed only by a walking path, the walk taking about an hour. It dates
from the 11th to 13th century but was badly damaged by the 1679 earthquake,
and most of the ruined structures that can be seen today are from the early
18th century. The beauty of the landscape and the certainty to be absolutely
alone among the 2 groups of ruined building makes it really worth the effort.
You can feel like an explorer hunting stones carved with inscriptions or intricate
crosses. Definitely one I recommend!
